Many products made from polyurethane foam contain the fire-retardant chemical TCEP.
TCEP has potential carcinogenic effects, and children under the age of three are particularly at risk of adverse health effects related to TCEP exposure. Polyurethane foam containing TCEP can be found in many consumer products, including mattresses, electronics, and children's toys.
Health Canada is looking for public input on a proposal to use the Hazardous Products Act to prohibit the import, advertisement, and sale of products intended for use by children under the age of three from containing polyurethane foam that includes TCEP. Comments on the proposal will be accepted until November 11, 2010. If you would like to comment on this proposal, here's the link http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/legislation/consultation/_2010tris_phosphate/index-eng.php
Ape 2 Zebra Toys will also put together an official response to this proposal. If you have any inputs you would like for us to include on your behalve then please make a comment on our Facebook Wall.
Officially occupied keeping you safe,
